Never Gonna Give This Joke Up

Since no one likes posts with too many videos, here's a post with merely one.

You all know who the Westboro Baptist Church is, right? Fred Phelps, "God Hates Fags", the whole bit. You also know, I'm sure, of Rickrolling.

What happens when we put the two together?

Not much, it turns out.

I feel bad for the kid with the "God hates the USA" sign. How can any group, cult or no, consider that moral? Oh, and "Mourn for your sins"? I mourned for mine when they died years ago, after I realized I was creating them myself. I'm glad to be rid of them.

-Thanks to my sweetie.

That seemed a little staged, but what do I know?

Wait, who was staged? The protesters or the protester-protester?

The whole situation. It didn't seem like anyone cared the guy was there. Like I said, I could be wrong but I can imagine everyone being in on the joke.

I think they were ignoring him because they took their protest very seriously and he obviously didn't. Given the history of the Westboro Baptist Church, the signs the people were holding are well within the sphere of possible reality.

I think this guy saw them protesting something, or knew it was going to happen, spray-painted up a sign, grabbed a boombox and a friend with a camera, and shot the video we saw. Nothing about that scenario seems implausible, and I think it explains what we see pretty well.

One way we can get objective information: let's figure out who that guy is and bring him to a meeting.
